Originally she ordered a small cake for his birthday, nothing fancy, just a small cake that the two of them could share. So I set about work creating a wee keepsake to go on the cake ... this little Army Guy.
In typical teenage 'I've made over plans' 18 year old style, the cake became redundant but the little Army Guy was already made.
On Sunday, said 18 year old left Edinburgh for the Army. This was about the same time as Hubby told me to find a new home for Army Guy ... and just as I picked him up to move him he broke! So I decided to take some photos of him for prosperity.
Apart from wee Thumper (who lives happily on the rarely used top shelf of the treat cupboard!) this is the first time I've ever tried to model a figure out of sugar paste. I'm quite pleased with him as a first attempt, his shoulders have dropped and his neck is a little out of proportion ... but I've yet to meet the perfect human being so I am prepared to let these things slide in sugar form too ;0)
